ArtinSoft Bets on User Empowerment With Customizable Version of its VB to .NET Migration Tool

11/28/2008 ArtinSoft Update /

ArtinSoft Corporation announced today the release of version 2.2 of its flagship automated tool for migrating from VB6 to the .NET Framework, the Visual Basic Upgrade Companion (VBUC). After an extensive six-month process of pioneering research and development, several powerful new features, along with enhancements to the existing ones, are now available for customers worldwide.

Many of these features seek to provide a more precise, pain-free experience when migrating to .NET. Custom Maps extensibility, for instance, allows end users to upgrade unsupported libraries and controls using a simple set of user-defined transformations. As a result, it is possible to increase the migration coverage in a simple and maintainable way.

Also, the core functionality of the Visual Basic Upgrade Companion has become easily customizable to satisfy specific migration needs. Through the 3rd Party Controls Extensibility, users can automatically upgrade specific programming patterns and add functionality to the migrated .NET application, saving manual effort, time and money on VB to .NET migration projects.

As for the existing capabilities of the VBUC that were strongly enhanced, it is worth mentioning that new patterns were added to the Code Refactoring feature, paving the road towards a more legible, maintainable code.

"With this version we set out to create an even more efficient and user-driven tool, that would enable our users to achieve a maximum level of automation and high performance generated code", said Hugo Fernández, head of Product Development at ArtinSoft. "We are 100% confident that we succeeded".
